Milk Cup :: Year 5

	Day 8: County Antrim and Bolton Wonderers

	Good day to you, SC Strikers fans!

	Our Juniors, now relegated to the Milk Plate final matches, faced off against County Antrim. Staff and parents alike wondered whether the boys would recuperate their composure following their frustrating performances against Ipswhich Town, AB Copenhagen, and County Tyrone. At this point in the tournament it is all about taking in the experience and relishing in the international football ambiance. This experience is one of a kind - playing against top teams at such an early age is a win in itself. "Do you know how many players from Orange County alone make it into the big leagues?" asked me Coach V. "Less than 1%. I am taking two entire teams to play against professional squads in Northern Ireland. They are being seen by scouts who wont venture out to draft them at home. Just being here is a special experience."

	Hello SC Strikers fans!

	Today the boys had their final preliminary matches that would define their next legs in the tournament. The Juniors and Premiers had vastly different performances: one headed back to Ulster University with glory while the other had little to salvage of what was once their pride.

	Good morrow SC Strikers fans!

	Today our boys continued the next leg of the Milk Cup. Our Juniors encountered AB Copenhagen from Denmark, a team made of suspiciously tall boys from Denmark, while our Premiers encountered County Londonderry who is recuperating from their scare when one of their players collapsed on the field yesterday

	Hello SC Strikers fans!

	Today we officially began our bid for the Milk Cup! Our teams were ready to go, cleats on, shin guards strapped, mind focused… everything was set for the first blow of the whistle. We knew we were going to encounter strong competition, we knew we were going to be tested but all that mattered was that we held our ground and played our game… and not theirs.

	Day 4: Welcoming Ceremony

	Hello SC Strikers fans!

	The anticipation continues to rise with the closing of each day, the hours counting down the time until the Milk Cup officially starts. With two successful scrimmages behind them, our Strikers boys have adjusted their playing styles to each other and have felt out the international game ambiance. It differs greatly from the one at home where enthusiasm ripples amongst the teams as opposed to the fervor and passion that saturate the air, the stands, and the people’s minds. “I’ve never seen anything like this, it’s completely different,” commented defensive linesman Forrest Solis. Everywhere the boys go there is only one centerpiece talk being heard of: the Milk Cup brackets, which team is worth taking a look at, which players may be approached for deal signings, and who may be taking home the victory. The people of Coleraineand the surrounding counties are ready to see some quality football, ready to witness firsthand the beginnings of tomorrow’s stars.

	Milk Cup :: Year 5

	Day 3: Light Preparation

	Hello Strikers FC fans!

	Though no previous scrimmages were planned before today, Coach V felt it was necessary to engage in one more friendly match to maintain the players’ chemistry and further ready his teams. The Juniors played against local club team LarneSky Blues at the University of Ulster grounds. Their game, yesterday’s shaky with jetlag, changed from night to day ….. They moved the ball across the field with phenomenal skill, able to build the play from the back and reach the front in a variety of ways. They finished the scrimmage with a 9-0 margin, a good ego boost and near perfect execution of Coach V’s strategies. The Premier team followed suit soon after, beating 6-0 the team and receiving the rougher end to Irish sports treatment. A worried Coach V threatened to stop the game to prevent injuries, but the referee did a fine job to keep tensions subdued. Emmanuel Boateng managed to sneak through two goals within the first several minutes, while the midfield played one-two-touch football to evade the other lads from touching them. Paul Salcedo, Matt Chasman and Michael Griswold fancifully put four others into the net, while defenders like outside backs shut down any attempts from flanking down the sides.
